James Michael Roman

James Michael Roman, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Brigham City. He was born to Michael and Kathryn Roman on September 15, 1918 in Slickville, Pennsylvania.

He lived in Pennsylvania where he attended high school and worked in the coalmines. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17 where he was a paratrooper during World War II. After his service, he moved to Sydney, Nebraska where he met the love of his life. On April 29, 1949, he married his sweetheart Alice Virginia Duffy. This month they would have celebrated 62 wonderful years together. He worked as a carman for the railroad and was transferred to Utah in 1957 where he has resided since.

He was a member of the BPOE Fraternal Order of the Elks. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and embroidering on pillowcases and dishtowels. His greatest joy was his family. He loved baseball, but especially being at the ballpark with his grandchildren and great-grandson. During the final years of his life his favorite pastime was sitting with his grandchildren, Zach, Nate, Kelci and Bree and his great-grandson, Brexton sharing 93 years worth of incredible memories. His grandchildren will forever treasure this precious time.

James is survived by his wife, Alice; sons, Bob (Denise) of Plain City, and Larry of Maryland; 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. where military honors will be accorded.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jim''s name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at Willow Glen Care Center in Brigham City as well as the nurses and doctors at Hospice for Utah.
