James Leroy Shidler
June 25, 1932 ~ December 21, 2018
James Leroy Shidler was born on June 25, 1932 in Conneaut, Ohio. Jim’s childhood was spent in Huntington, Indiana. He joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War.
After the war, he lived in Utah and it was there that he met his wife Shirlee. They were married October 14, 1955 in Buhl, Idaho.
In 1967, he became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jim and Shirlee settled down and raised their three children, Ken, Lisa and Brent in North Ogden.
He served in both the Air Force Reserves and later the Army Reserves. He spent most of his career as a Plastic Technician at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, family, and friends on his motorcycle and later in a camper or motor home.
He is remembered as frequently telling his family and friends, “Do me a favor and never get old.” He loved drinking Coca Cola.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 63 years. He is survived by his wife, Shirlee, his children, Ken (Barbara), Lisa, Brent (Kimberly), six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy, his parents, and siblings.
There will be no funeral. A Graveside ceremony with full military honors will be held at Ben Lomond Cemetery.
