James David Shrum Sr.
LAYTON a" James David Shrum Sr., 94, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013.
He was born January 1, 1919 in Gans, Oklahoma the son of James Benjamin and May Bell Walker Shrum.
James married LaVey Mildred Sargent on December 23, 1942 in Sacramento, California. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2002.
He was a member and High Priest of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a stake mission in Sacramento, CA.
James was a Past Master Capital City Lodge #499, Sacramento, CA; Past Patron rainbow chapter #385 O.E.S., Sacramento, CA, Shriner, and the Scottish Rite.
He liked writing books, especially after the age of 80 years.
Surviving are his son, James David Shrum Jr., Sparks, NV; daughter, MarLyn LaVey Shrum, Layton; four grandchildren, James D. and Connie Shrum III, Standusky, OH; Stephen C. and Lisa Shrum Santa Rosa, CA; Kim C., Santa Rosa, CA; and DJ Hendrix and Joy E. and Cliff Johnson, Santa Rosa, CA; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers and sisters.
Friends may visit family Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Interment, Sacramento Memorial Lawn, Sacramento, CA.
