James "Jimmy" Johnson

In Loving Memory Of

James “Jimmy” Johnson

Jimmy Johnson, 34, our son, brother, father and friend died Friday July 21, 2017 at his home in Layton. He was born December 14, 1982 in Ogden, a son of James Herman and Kenna Johnson.

This is the story of a lover and a fighter, determined to learn to love himself and beat his demons once and for all. Jimmy was a stubborn soul with the heart of a saint. He would do anything for anybody and once he put his mind to something there was no changing it.

From the time he was very young, he always had a way with animals. His dog Tigger even followed him home from school as a puppy and that is how she joined the family. His dog Casey thought that she was a lap dog because he would carry her around and give her piggy back rides from the time she was a puppy and well into her later years when she was close to 100 lbs.

Jimmy also had a way with children. His nieces and nephews loved him and he was always willing to play with them. His children were his favorite to play with. They would wrestle and run around and laugh all the time. Jimmy would do anything for his kids, even if it meant watching The Magic School Bus for hours on end with Koen.

He loved the outdoors and was always hiking and fishing with his friends. He couldn’t get enough of it. The outdoors was his sanctuary where he could find peace and serenity. If he ever needed to just get away from it all, this was where he would run.

He is survived by his son Koen James Johnson, Koen’s mother Melissa Westerman Oliver and children Makaylee and Kaiden Oliver. He is also survived by his loving mother Kenna Johnson, his sisters: Christy Kilburn (Jim), Tammy Robbins (Justin), and Debbie Bircumshaw and his brother Scott Johnson (Hannah), as well as many nieces, nephews and lifetime friends.

He is preceded in death by his father James Herman Johnson, his grandmother Della Johnson, his grandfathers Gerald Johnson and Kenneth Nebeker and his dogs Tigger and Casey.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

There will be no graveside service, as he will be cremated and set free in his favorite place by family.

In lieu of flowers please donate to his son Koen. An account will be set up at Goldenwest in his name, Koen James Johnson.
