Jan Holbrook Barnes

Jan Holbrook Barnes, our loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away on the evening of August 1, 2013 surrounded by her daughter, Kati and brothers and sisters.

Jan was born on January 9, 1961, a daughter of Cal V. and Elizabeth Louise Hatch Holbrook and a twin sister to Joan. She was the sixth of eight children and throughout her life she was always taking care of those around her. Jan lived to help others and spent the last ten years of her life taking care of the needs of her parents.

She graduated from Bonneville High School where she spent much of her time singing in the choir. Jan loved to sing and she was able to play most piano songs by sight. Jan worked for over 32 years at Deamer & Holbrook, CPAs. She was a valuable employee and will be greatly missed by her bosses and many clients.

Jan married Jeffrey Scott Barnes on September 29, 1986. They were later sealed together as a family on March 12, 2011 in the Ogden LDS Temple. Together Jeff and Jan were blessed to raise two wonderful children, Luke John Barnes and Kati J. Barnes. She loved being a mother. Her joy in life was making her children''s lives easier and happier . Jan loved playing any type of game, but her favorite by far was the I Love You game that she played every morning with Kati.

She enjoyed making others happy. She loved to cook for her family and the presentation of the food was almost more important than the wonderful taste. Jan spent many hours with her sisters making salsa, quilting, shopping, playing games, and laughing. Jan had the ability to make everyone feel loved. She was the aunt who remembered every date and special occasion. She made each niece and nephew feel like they were the world to her. Little children loved her and always wanted to spend time around her. Jan especially enjoyed the Primary callings she held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jan is survived by her son, Luke Barnes, Ogden; daughter, Kati Barnes, Ogden; father, Cal Holbrook, Ogden; brothers, Ronald (Pat) Holbrook, West Haven; Dean (Susan) Holbrook, North Ogden; Terry Holbrook, Sunset; Ray (Lori) Holbrook, Plain City; Joan Holbrook, Ogden; and Mary (Jeff) Bybee, Evanston, WY; and many nieces and nephews.

Jan touched the lives of many and she will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff; mother, Elizabeth; and one brother, Kent. She leaves behind many happy memories and a legacy of loving and serving others.

Jan''s Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 4th Ward, 4760 South 200 East. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
