Jana Lee Stanger

September 7, 1956 — December 20, 2022

Our loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Jan Stanger, 66, passed away December 20, 2022. She is finally at peace leaving her earthly health trials behind.

She was born September 7, 1956 in Ogden, Utah to Jack Lane and Maxine Nelson Green. She was raised in Roy, Utah and graduated from Roy High School. After graduating, she worked at Holley’s Restaurant and Service/Towing, having even driven the tow truck to rescue people a time or two. She also worked as a dental assistant to two different dentists before choosing her career at America First Credit Union.

Jan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She married Kirt Stanger in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced.

Jan was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She watched her grandson, Beckett, after school, and they loved the time they spent together giggling, building, and whatever he came up with. A passion throughout her life was serving others including animals. Throughout her younger life she always had a pet she lovingly cared for.

While married, she avidly followed the many racehorses they raced around Utah and other surrounding states. Her later life was filled with two cats, Sammy and Shooter, her dog, Otis, and very often a houseful of foster or boarding dogs and cats. She helped rescue and find homes for many dogs and cats. She had the biggest heart and would do anything possible for animals and even humans. Jan was very involved with Hope’s Rescue where she dedicated her last several years to many animals that needed her help. At the time of her death, she was fostering or boarding four dogs.

Jan is survived by her parents, Jack and Maxine Green; brother, Chris Green; and sister, Toni (Brett) Perkins; her son, Dustin (Jayne) Stanger; three grandsons, Havili Reeves, Naki Reeves, and Beckett Stanger, nine nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored.
