OGDEN - Jane Wright Bauter, 93, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
She was born June 27, 1917 in Ogden, Utah a daughter of Clarence "Clix" and Leila Rich Wright
Jane moved to Salt Lake City at an early age. She graduated from East High School and the University of Utah where she was affiliated with the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was an accomplished equestrian.
She married Robert Whitney Bauter and moved to Ogden when Bob became co-owner of Weber Office Supply. Bob preceded her in death in 1994.
She became a member of the Junior League of Ogden, and served as its second president. For many years she was on the Woman''s Board of Westminster College and volunteered as a pink lady at St. Benedict''s Hospital for 22 years. She was a member of the Ogden Golf and Country Club and was president of the Ladies Association.
Jane loved to play golf, bridge, crossword puzzles and could be found working in her garden, from early until late, during each season of the year. She loved the ballet and attending the Utah Symphony.
A member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Jane sang in the choir for many years and was very active in the altar guild.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Richard Wright (Kristin) Bauter and Steven Rich (Sue) Bauter, all of Ogden; Robert Whitney (Pam) Bauter Jr., Carson City, NV; and Susie Bauter (Bill) Adams, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Anne Smith, Bend, OR; and Mary Erickson, Salt Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, a grandson, Richard II, and her sister, Kaye Pollock.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks for the loving care given to Jane by the caring staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living and the peace given to Jane and her family by Hospice for Utah.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, March 6th at 4 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services in Tuttle Hall at the church.
Inurnment at the Good Shepherd Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, Jane has requested that donations be made to the Good Shepherd Foundation, 2374 Grant Ave. or the charity of your choice.
