Jane Ellis Elggren returned to her Heavenly Father and beloved husband, Sunday December 31, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer. Family and friends supported her through many health challenges, and she died knowing she was loved.
Jane was born in Bountiful, Utah to George Edwin Ellis and Blanche Jansson Ellis. She grew up in Woods Cross with her favorite cousin living next door. She graduated from Bountiful High where she met and double dated her eternal companion, Tom Elggren whom she later married in the Salt Lake temple, September 7, 1966.
Education was important to Jane. She loved to learn. Her eyes would go so big in amazement when she learned something new. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from BYU and taught Kindergarten while Tom finished his degree.
Jane dedicated her whole life to her 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and service to the Lord. She enjoyed playing games and telling stories to her grandchildren. She also loved to garden, fish, camp, play the organ, piano, ukulele and violin, enjoying the arts and live theater, finding a good deal, and winning Tom at things... hence her New Year’s Eve exit. She was known for her infectious laughter especially when she watched “Christmas Vacation”.
Jane had many opportunities to travel the world such as Israel, Greece, Italy, Egypt, Jamaica, New Zealand, Haiti, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and all the church history places. Her favorite place was Bryce Canyon. She loved the orange colors and beautiful trees in autumn.
She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints such as ward organist, Relief Society president, teacher, primary president and chorister, and in the nursery.
Jane is survived by her seven children; five daughters and two sons: Lucinda, Teresa, LaiLoni, Cozette, Katrina, Michael, and Mattew; fourteen grandchildren; her sister Norma and brother George.
