Jane Hobster
January 27, 1926 – June 27, 2016
The gates of Heaven opened a little wider and shined a little brighter to welcome one of the kindest, most loving souls to ever grace this Earth. Jane Hobster, 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
Jane was born on January 27, 1926 in Akron, OH. She married the love of her life, Harold Hobster, on May 17, 1946. Together they raised two beautiful children, Ed and Patti. Jane and Harold were married for nearly 60 years and the love they shared was a glowing example to all who knew them.
Jane retired from Sears Roebuck Co. after a long and accomplished career. She worked as the Manager in the Personnel department, the first female to hold that position, making her an inspiration to her whole family.
Jane was known for her kindness. She always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude for everyone she met. When Jane smiled you couldn’t help but smile back. She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for her dogs, both real and her stuffed animals. She loved reading and painting, and her room was decorated with her artistic creations. Her bright spirit and her enormous personality will be greatly missed by all.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her beloved husband, Harold. She is survived by her two children Ed (Bonnie) Hobster and Patti (Dwayne) Cox, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pheasant View Assisted Living, who filled Jane’s final years with warmth and happiness. Also, they would like to extend a thank you to the staff at AFI Hospice for their loving care. A special thank you to Rhonda Personette for the patience, love, and friendship that she showed to Jane. One final thank you to Allen Anderson, a true friend who always looked after Jane just as she did for him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton. Friends may visit family Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
