It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janeen Lou Jolley Hullinger on March 12, 2024, in Farmington, Utah. Born to Farris Swapp and Leonard Jolley on July 17, 1938, in Provo, Utah. Janeen's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her faith, family, and community.
Janeen married Dan Jay Hullinger on November 18, 1960. Together, they raised a family that includes Richard Dan (Marilee) of West Bountiful, UT; Randy Leonard (Michelle) of Pasco, WA; Lisa Hyatt (Jon) of Farmington, UT; and their precious Shauna Lou, who predeceased them. Janeen loved caring for her family. Canning, making ketchup, organization, and caring for her home and family were her passion. These were not “tasks” to her, but a way to show her love for her family and friends. She made connections with and loved her family and friends.
Throughout her life, Janeen lived in various cities across Oregon, California, Utah, and Washington, each place leaving an imprint on her and her family's life.
She leaves behind her siblings, Bruce Jolley, Gloria Johnson, Sue Ann Crockett, and was preceded in death by her brothers, Ron, Von, and Richard Jolley.
Janeen adored her grandchildren, McKenzie, Avery, Parker, McKenna, Jacob, Mitchell, Kylie, Travis, Nicholas, Alex, Shaun, and Annalise, along with her nine great-grandchildren. They all loved to visit grandma, eat her cookies and feel her love. Janeen was affectionately called the "candy grandma," by countless neighborhood children. This title reflected her sweet and loving nature.
Her commitment to her Savior Jesus Christ was profound. Janeen served faithfully in many callings, including stake and ward Relief Society President, Seminary teacher, Young Women President, temple worker in the Bountiful Temple, and other callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her service was a testament to her faith and her desire to uplift those around her. Janeen and Dan served as missionaries on several occasions, including impactful missions at the Davis County Jail and Addiction Recovery programs. Additionally, Janeen and Dan took on the role of greeting incoming new missionaries at the airport. Their legacy of service, love, and commitment continues to inspire all who knew them.
Janeen graduated from BYU with a degree in Executive Secretarial. Her degree was used as she worked for Geneva Steel, State Farm Insurance, Mountain States Bell telephone company, and a teacher at Blue Mountain Community College. Later in her career she owned and operated Diet Center franchises in Milwaukie Oregon, Hermiston Oregon, and Centerville, Utah. Beyond her professional life, Janeen could cook! Any event she attended was often sweetened by her famous ginger creams and brownies.
As we remember Janeen, we are comforted by the thought of her joyous reunion with her beloved Dan, Shauna Lou, and countless friends and family members. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire and influence all who knew her. She set a great example through her love and dedication to all those who surrounded her.
