Janet Lynn Coomes

God has called his soldier home. Janet Lynn Coomes passed away Friday, July 4, 2008.

She was born May 17, 1955 at Tachikawa Air Force Base, Tokyo to Bob Marvin Pennington and Louise Marie Grieger.

Janet graduated from Layton high School on 1974. She lived most of her life in Roy.

She married Travis Arthur Powell on September 12, 1975 at Hill Air Force Base. He preceded her in death in June 1980. On September 3, 1981, Janet married Raymond Coomes in Ogden, Utah. She served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from June 1976 to December 2005. She was veteran of the Iraqi/Afghanistan War, retiring in December 2005.

Janet and Raymond were members of the Good Sam Club and enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting and fishing.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond; a daughter, Candice Sampson, Roy; two grandchildren, Jason and Miriam; her parents, Bob and Louise Pennington, San Antonio, TX; a brother, David Pennington, Blythe, CA; and two sisters, Karen (Bob) Harrington, Ft. Collins, CO; and Linda (Bill) Kerbisch, Berea, OH.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park South Valley, Riverton, Utah.
