Janet C. Dickamore
March 16, 1939 ~ September 15, 2014
Janet Cook Dickamore, loving mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014, surrounded by her adoring family.
Janet was born on March 16, 1939, to David and Zora Roberts Cook. The oldest of four, she is survived by her brothers Stanley (Bonnie) Cook and Jimmy Cook and her sister Marjean (Al) Palfreyman with whom she shared a love of books and crafts.
Janet was a graduate of Davis County Schools and Utah State University and taught home economics for several years before giving up teaching other people’s children to focus on her own. She married Henry James Dickamore on August 18, 1965, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had many great adventures, traveling coast to coast and to various countries. Between trips, they raised seven children in South Weber: Ann (Richard) Wixom, Lorelei Dickamore, Yvonne Dickamore, Gwen (Phillip) Romero, Kristie Dickamore, Robert Dickamore, and Jody Dickamore.
Dad had hoped that their children would all move away so that they would have places to visit, but Mom got her way and almost everyone stayed close to home. They have fourteen grandchildren, one granddaughter-in-law, and one great-grandchild.
Janet was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and had a strong testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, exemplified by her years of service as a Primary and Relief Society pianist, ward organist, stake historian, visiting teacher, and temple worker.
Janet will be remembered for her compassion and humor, her generosity and devotion to her family and her faith.
We’ll miss you, Mom.
