Janet Heslop, our beautiful Mom, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and loving friend passed away on January 24, 2023, after a long, hard battle with cancer.
Janet was born May 31, 1949, to David Don Hamblin and Emma Thomas Hamblin. She was the fourth of eight children. She grew up in Riverdale and graduated from Bonneville High School.
Growing up her favorite thing to do was ride “Socks” the horse. She would ride her all over from Riverdale to Washington Terrace, and clear to Ogden. As a teenager her hobbies included sports - she loved softball and volleyball. She wouldn’t be afraid to “slam” the ball for the win. Some of her fondest memories were made camping with family and friends. She loved the outdoors and she especially liked to work in her yard and garden. She always had the cutest decorations and enjoyed collecting them.
Janet met Bud Heslop and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on July 26, 1968. They resided in West Point by Bud’s mom and dad. She took care of her sweet mother-in-law in her later years and loved her so. They welcomed three children – Travis, Jason, and Nikki. They brought her the most joy in her life.
Janet was known as “the most popular” waitress at the Hi Hat Café. She had a fun and bubbly personality and all who met her loved her. Her talent for floral decorations was one of a kind. She loved making wedding bouquets and wreaths for friends and family. Her favorite things to make were the decorations for her daughter Nikki’s grave. Every holiday had something beautiful to remember her by. She worked for many years at North Davis Cabinet where she was known as “Mom” to all. Everyone who met her just loved her.
Janet married Kay Christensen and they were later divorced.
The many trials she faced in life allowed her to build empathy for others and give selflessly to those she loved. Her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren whom she spent countless hours with.
Janet was an active member of the LDS church. She was compassionate to all walks of life and strived to be like her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She will be missed and remembered for her acts of kindness, love for all, and her services that she brought to so many others. She brought love and light to all she met.
She is reunited with Nikki, the daughter she lost so long ago and missed every single day. Oh, what a joyous reunion it must be!
Janet is survived by her family: sons, Travis (Tammy) Heslop of Syracuse, and Jason (Linda) Heslop of West Point; her grandchildren, Heather Sherwood, Michelle (Ryan) Paskett, Tyler (Keirra) Eames, Gage Heslop, TJ Andrews, Kimmie (Travis) Fausett, and Brakken (Savanah) Heslop; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Gwen (Mike) Hall and JoAnn (Steve) Harris; and her brother, Bobby Hamblin.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicole “Nikki” Heslop; and granddaughter, Lisa Marie Eames; her parents; her sister, Karen; and three brothers, Mike, Dave, and Jed.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Inspiration Hospice for their kind and gentle care given to Mom in her last days.
