Janet Clara “Goosey” Keyes (Mitchell)
Our loving wife, mother, and 'Goosey' was reunited with her Heavenly Father, daughter, parents and beloved dog, Lucy, on October 23, 2023. She passed away with her family by her side in her home in Sunset, Utah.
She was born in Francis, Utah on June 23,1937 to Parley Byron Mitchell and Clara Louder. She graduated from South Summit High School where she was involved in many extracurricular activities; including sports, pep club, drama, and she was the editor of the school paper. Janet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She married her sweetheart, Lamar Keyes, on June 23, 1955 and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had three children, Rusty, Becky, and Rod.
Janet earned the special name of Goosey because of how she was as a person. She was happy, quite silly, and loving. To know Janet was to know happiness and joy. She had a very special light about her. Janet loved her family more than anything, and she always went above and beyond for anyone. She loved being a grandma and she was good at it. She was always making the holidays fun by dressing up and creating stories to tell the family. She would wear Santa Claus hats, reindeer horns, and even red light-up noses. At Christmas time she was the queen of White Elephant gifts and always knew how to make you laugh. Janet was also a talented seamstress and would always be up for the challenge of creating fantastic costumes for her grandchildren. Not only could she sew, but she could knit and crochet just about anything.
Janet was preceded in death by her daughter Becky, sister Mavis, and her parents. She is survived by her loving husband Lamar, sons, Rusty (Sue Easling) Keyes, Rod (Angie) Keyes, and grandchildren Jaime (Ben) Anderson, Savannah (Nick) East, Derek Keyes, Torie (Brad) Vickers, Paige (Scott) Miner, Austin (Montse) Keyes as well as her eight cherished great-grandchildren, and her great-great-granddaughter.
