Janet Adrienne Short Romanski

December 6, 1935 — November 16, 2024

Janet Adrienne Short Romanski sadly departed our family after battling dementia on November 16, 2024, in Ogden, UT.

She was born in Lorain, Ohio, on December 6, 1935, to Leland Delmer and Katherine Rose (Laux) Croskey. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1954, and worked for Ford Motor Company where she met her first husband, Gordon Short of McKeesport, PA. She was married to Gordon for 27 years and had seven children. She re-married in 1997 to Theodore A. Romanski and lived again in Lorain, Ohio, until 2022. Both spouses, one child, Phillip Short; her parents, and a brother-in-law preceded her in death.

She had moved to California with her young family in the early 1960’s, living in Brea, Redding, and eventually settling in Petaluma. There she worked for KTOB Radio Station, La Tercera and Old Adobe Elementary Schools, and at the district office for Old Adobe Union School District.

Janet was active in Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Ohio Genealogical Society, and the Lorain Historical Society.

In the morning you could find her drinking black coffee and doing a crossword puzzle or reading a book. She also loved attending live theater and musicals.

Janet is survived by her children, David (Karen) Short, Suzanne Du Val, Thomas (Nancy) Short, John (Marcia) Short, Eric (Tracy) Short, and Amy (Jonathan) Saxton; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and her two sisters, Marilyn (Phillip) Jaworski and Kaylee Potts.

Janet will be buried at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Petaluma, California with a private family ceremony at a future date.

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
