Janet Bernice Checketts Turner

OGDEN a€" Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Janet C. Turner, age 72, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2007 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

She was born November 8, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to John Richard Sr. and Edna Bernice Bowman Checketts.

Janet married Melvin Ernest Turner on February 10, 1951 in Coalville, Utah. After the death of her husband Melvin, in 1972, they were sealed for eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple on December 21, 1973.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served valiantly in the Primary for over 30 years. She worked at the Ogden Temple in the clothing department.

Janet enjoyed reading, camping, embroidering and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the 24th of July Parade and making special Christmas sacks for her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Jan (Brian) Warren, Marilyn (Ross) Rackham and Natalie (Scott) Budge, all of Ogden; 12 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and two brothers, John (DeNece) Checketts, Jr., Salt Lake City; Jerry (Diana) Checketts, North Ogden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson and step-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
