Janet R. Gailey Wall

Janet Renee Gailey was born March 31, 1937, in Ogden, Utah. A daughter of Riva M Brown and Bert Wendell Gailey. Due to a divorce in the family, her mother married Bert Wendell Gailey, who raised her and was her true father in every sense of the word. He adopted her in his heart and she meant as much to him as all the other children, as he took over her parentage when she was two years old.

Janet attended school in both the Weber and Davis county school districts. She met her husband Ted Varnam Wall on Easter Sunday 1953, when they were introduced by a close friend. They courted for a year and were married May 5, 1954 in Roy, Utah. They remained happily married until Ted''s death in 1995. They have five lovely children, that have survived them and who love and honor their parents. Debra Morgan (Joe), Guy Wall (Sandi), Sandy Malloy (Wade), Teri Briggs (Alan), and Monica DeCock.

Janet resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado while Ted was in the service for the first year of their marriage, then a year with her folks in Richmond while Ted was stationed in Germany. After his return the family moved to East Layton, Utah where they built a beautiful home, next to Ted''s parents, where they raised their family and Janet still resided at the time of her death. Summers and winters were spent at "The Cabin" near Hardware Ranch with numerous outings shared with family and friends. "The Cabin" became a favorite destination for all. Her great love for the outdoors provided many opportunities to spend time 4-wheeling, hunting, boating, and fishing with those who were dear to her.

Janet always worked; as a girl Friday in several places and as a grocery clerk for several years. She always had a real love for cafAC. work and worked as a cook for many years at Sill''s CafAC. in Layton. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting and all kinds of hobbies and crafts. Over recent years Janet had reestablished her commitment to the LDS Church where, when her children were younger, she had held positions as a Mutual teacher and secretary in the primary. She felt she had always been a religious person in her heart and had succeeded in being a good parent, kind to friends, neighbors and in treating others as she wanted to be treated herself. Both Janet and Ted felt that their best contribution to life and society was in the five beautiful loving children who have gone on to lead productive lives and have given them many loving grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her cat and special companion Squirt, siblings Lonnie Mendenhall (Allan), Ron Gailey (Polly), Don Gailey (Jeanie), Arden Gailey (Janette), DeAnne Hess (Mike), Kevin Gailey (Merlynn), Richard Gailey (Maryann), and in-laws, Clista, Wayne, Cleone, and Norma. Forty four Grandchildren, fifty and three quarters Great Grandchildren and one Great-great Grandson.

She was preceded in death by husband Ted. Parents Riva M Brown, Bert Wendell Gailey, and Jesse Lamar Wilson. One brother Wendell Bert Gailey and his wife Janet Clayson. Two grandsons Jake Malloy and Malachi Darcey. Two great granddaughters Brianna Nelson and Akira Olson. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet''s family would like to thank the Orchard Grove (Third) Ward Bishopric, Relief Society and church members as well as all of her neighbors and friends that have extended their love and support through her illness and our time of grieving.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
