Jan Cragun
August 16, 1926 ~ February 18, 2018
Janice Garner Cragun passed away on Sunday, February 18th at the age 91. Jan was born on August 16, 1926 in North Ogden, Utah, to Arthur Milton and Elizabeth Berrett Garner. She had two older brothers and three older sisters. She spent her childhood on the family farm and attended Weber County Schools, graduating from Weber High School in 1945.
Jan married Levi Ephraim Cragun on March 20, 1946 at 11:30 p.m. in the Salt Lake Temple. They made Pleasant View, Utah, their home and lived there for the next 43 years. Jan’s interests always centered on family and friends; she loved to go on picnics, have New Year’s Eve breakfasts with her friends, and have family get-togethers with pizza and nut sundaes. She never missed her turn having Thanksgiving dinner with her boys and their families.
After Levi passed away in 1985, she met and married Conrad Simpson and in 1989 moved to Orem, Utah, where she added to her life a very special family. She came to know very quickly how much she could love additional kids and grandkids and loved them as her own. They were very important to her and etched a special place in her heart that remained with her the rest of her life.
Jan later moved back to North Ogden, residing at Three Fountains, where she made many dear friends and planted many flowers.
In September 2014 she moved to Lotus Park Assisted Living in West Haven, Utah. There she added even more special friends to her life. She resided there until she passed away.
Jan was a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many positions throughout her life.
Jan is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Linda) of Twin Falls, Idaho; Don Robert (Rhea) of Sioux City, Iowa; and Lee (Heather) Roy, Utah. She will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and sister, Lavon Hull.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ralph and Halver Garner; two sisters, Fern Allred and Mabel Kendell; her husband, Levi Cragun; a son, Ronald Cragun; and five grandchildren.
