Janice Patricia Dean Romney
July 31, 1933 ~ November 17, 2021
Janice Patricia Dean Romney was born to Charles W. Dean and Alma Johnson Dean on July 31, 1933, at home in Salt Lake City, Utah and passed away on November 17, 2021 in West Haven, Utah of natural causes. She was the third of four children. She grew up on the family’s farm in Woodruff, Utah and graduated from South Rich High School in 1951.
Janice graduated from LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah with a degree in accounting / bookkeeping. She worked at Christiansen Furniture and later Meadow Gold Dairy in Ogden, Utah before starting a 38-year career in accounting at Federal Employees Credit Union (now America First Credit Union). She was one of their first employees.
While working at Meadow Gold Dairy, she met her husband David “Dave” C. Romney and they were married in Gardnerville, Nevada on September 15, 1967; they were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. Janice and Dave had two children, Lisa (Cheryl) and Jason (Nichole). She has six grandchildren, Cassidy and Allyson Romney, and William, Adrianna, Nicholas, and Emmitt Cassity. She also has many nieces and nephews that have always been dear to her.
Janice is survived by her children, grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Lucette Dean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; her parents, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Byrne, and siblings and their spouses, Melvin (Naola) Dean, Kenneth Dean, and Marilyn (George Blackburn) (Skip Hayes).
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Lotus Park Assisted Living and Memory Care for their care for mom over the last three years. A special thanks to Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their care in her final days. The family would also like to thank mom’s wonderful neighbors in Riverdale who were always so helpful to her.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard.
