Jared Lee Stoddard
1971 – 2021
On Saturday January 9, 2021, Jared Lee Stoddard, loving husband and father of four children, passed away peacefully in the home that he built with his beloved family by his side after a 21-year battle with a brain tumor. He was 49. Jared faced his diagnosis head on, unafraid and armed with the love of Jesus Christ, his Savior.
Jared was born on June 11, 1971 in Hooper, UT to Ken and Karen (Plumb) Stoddard. He served in the Auckland, New Zealand Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1990-1992) and was recently blessed with the opportunity to revisit his mission in March 2020 to once again see the land and people he loved and served. He received his degree in Technical Sales from Weber State University and spent 25 years pursuing his passion for excavating, owning a family business with his brother Joe. On August 10, 2001 he was sealed in the Bountiful, Utah temple to the love of his life Shelly (Bullough) Stoddard. Jared raised his two stepchildren (Kylie and Mitchell) as his own and was blessed with two more loving daughters (Brooklyn and Halle). To say Jared loved his family would be an understatement. No one could love anyone more than he loved his wife and children, and he lived each day for them. He honored his Priesthood and always strived to know the Lord.
Jared was preceded in death by his father (Ken), and brothers (Scott and Joe). He is survived and forever remembered by his mother (Karen), his wife (Shelly), his children (Kylie, Steve, Mitchell, Macey, Brooklyn, and Halle), three grandchildren (Jack, Evie, Leo), his siblings (Shane and Angie), and a host of other friends and relatives whom he loved and touched deeply.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing held in Jared’s honor on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N Fairfield Rd, Layton, UT 84041.
