Jay Thomas Barber, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at his home in West Point.
He was born January 28, 1933, in Syracuse, Utah to Benjamin Wallace Barber and Ethel Malinda Briggs Barber.
On May 17, 1956, Jay married Irene Dawson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He lived his entire life in the Syracuse/West Point area. He graduated from Davis High School. He was ordained a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons play sports, gardening, spending time with family and dogs.
Jay is survived by his three children: two sons, Curtis Jay Barber, Clinton, and Kelly Ralph (Lorrie) Barber, Hooper; and daughter, Jill Barber, West Point; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Gailey, Syracuse.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, parents, and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the West Point Stake Center, 550 N. 2300 W., West Point. Friends may visit with the family, Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the stake center.
Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary.
