Jay L. Jones
OGDEN – Jay Lloyd Jones, 78, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family from complications of a heart attack,
He was born May 5, 1930 in Okmogee, Oklahoma, a son of Willie Rifel and Nancy Jennette Saunders Jones.
On October 22, 1950, Jay married Barbara L. Jones in Coalville, Utah. They were later divorced. Jay married Susan Crane on December 25, 1981 in Ogden.
He lived in the Ogden area from the early 1940’s and was a graduate of Ogden High School.
He retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad following 42 years of service as a conductor.
Jay was a member of the Masons, Elks and Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing poker, his yearly garden and keeping his yard immaculately groomed. Most of all, he loved the yearly camping vacations with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Susan of Ogden; four sons and two daughters, JC “Chris” Jones, Jeffery W. (Jackie) Jones, and Stacey R. Jones, all of Ogden; Cory (Gaylynn) Lott, Roy; Suzie (Scott) Edwards, and Cari Lott, both of Ogden; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his loving girls, Sassy and Mandy.
Also surviving is one brother, Robert “Mickey” (Peggy) Jones, Hemmet, CA.
Preceding Jay in death were his parents and brothers, Willie Rifel Jones, Jr., and Hemens Eugene “Boots” Patterson.
The family would like to thank Applegate Hospice for all their loving care.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.
