Jay G Love

“Together Again”

In the quiet misty morning of January 13, 2014 at home on the farm where he worked and raised his family, Jay G Love passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his beloved companion Jean.  Oh Happy Day- All is Well.

Jay was born in Layton, Utah on April 18, 1930, the 5th child of George H. and Maud James Love.  He graduated from Davis High School where he and Jean served as student body officers together.  He was taught the value of work by a loving father and mother.  Although he said when he was young he did not like milking cows, he became a prominent Davis County Dairy Farmer and milked cows for many years.  He said the two happiest days of his life were first when he married Jean and second when he sold the cows.  Jay and Jean were sealed in the Salt Lake temple and welcomed 10 children into their eternal family. Jay spent his life in service to his family and church.  Although he occasionally took a little time off to go fishing or hunting he always included family on those occasions.  Jay was devoted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and frequently shared his testimony of the truth.  He was valiant in church service.  He served in many callings including Bishop, but he especially loved being a home teacher and faithfully visited his families each month.  Jay and Jean served as Temple workers in the Ogden temple.  Jay was selected as Farmer of the year, but he always said that his best crop was his children.  Jay was a delight and lifted the spirits of everyone he touched with his humor and his wisdom.  He was generous and kind and beloved by his family.

Jay is survived by his children Jaydene Love, Robert & Dana Love, Evan & Carol Love, Mary and Russell Jensen, Adams and Louise Love, Joe and MaryAnn Love, Tom and Moira Love, Kim and Scott Killpack;  brother Rulon Love and Sister Arleen Lew allen;  50 grandchildren and 85, and counting, great-grand-children.  He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; 3 sons, Samuel Love, and infant boys James and William Love; and brother, Glen Love; and sisters, Ardella Lawson, Marjorie Tolman, and Elnora Love.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11 a.m.  at the Layton Hills Stake Center, 2300 N. University Park Blvd,  Layton, UT.  Friends may visit with family on Friday, January 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., and Saturday from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services.

Interment, Kaysville Cemetery.

The family suggests donations be made to the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
