Jay Woodfield McEntire MD (April 13, 1918-January 7, 2011) Jay W. McEntire, 92, died Friday, January 7, 2011 in Casa Grande, Arizona.
He was born April 13, 1918 in Huntsville, Utah, son of William Rawson and Rosene Maria Woodfield McEntire.
Jay enjoyed growing up in the farming community of Huntsville. He loved horses and outdoor activities. Jay worked for several farmers as a youth to earn spending money. He attended school in Huntsville and graduated from Weber High School in Ogden. Jay served a LDS mission to the East Central States. After graduating from the University of Utah Medical School in 1950, he completed an internship in Detroit, Michigan. Jay returned to Ogden to set up his family medicine practice. He was respected and loved by his many patients. In 1966, Jay and two other physicians established coverage of the emergency room at the Dee Hospital and subsequently the McKay Dee Hospital where he worked for many years.
Married Doris Rose, 1942(div.); Helen Starley, 1966(div.); Carol Ann Bingham 1989. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Carol, his children Joan (Louis) Buhrley, Linda (Terry) Glasgow, Jay (Debbie) McEntire, Murry McEntire, Robert (Terry) McEntire, 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and, his brother, Don McEntire. Preceding Jay in death were his parents, three sisters: Laura Hawkes, Virginia Stallings, and Helen Slater, a brother: Ross McEntire and a grandson: Drew McEntire.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Huntsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Huntsman Cancer Center would be appreciated.
