Jay Irwin Pentz

MORGAN - Jay Irwin Pentz, 82, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at home with his family around him.

He was born on May 20, 1928 to Jacob Grover and Ruby Leone Irwin Pentz in Stoddard, Utah. In his early teen years, he left home to work on numerous cattle and sheep ranches.

Jay was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held the office of a Deacon.

He married Betty Ann Stephens on September 30, 1961 in Elko, Nevada.

He served in the Army Corp of Engineers, stationed in Greenland, where he operated heavy equipment.

Jay was a member of the Operators and Engineers Local Union #3.

He is survived by his wife; his son, Bill (Carol) Pentz and their children, Elizabeth and Alexander; his adopted daughter, Shasta (Blaine) Breshears and their children, Cormick, McKinlee, Conley, Millee and Charlee, all of Stoddard, Utah. Also surviving are two brothers, Wayne (Arlene) Pentz and Wendel Pentz, and three sisters, Marjorie (Eldon) Smith, Wanda Woolsey, Floriene Glass, and sister-in-law, Waynetta Pentz.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters, Helen Pentz, Beth Hayes, and Leone Pentz; his brothers, Charles, Gene, Jon, Jacob and Ken Pentz.

Graveside services will be Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Milton Cemetery.
