Jay Veral Smith

August 21, 1958 — September 6, 2022

Jay Veral Smith, beloved son, brother, and friend, graduated from mortality on September 6, 2022. Jay was born August 21, 1958, the only son of Veral Jay and Marie Ila Smith. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a regular participant in special needs mutual (SNAP) in Bountiful, Kaysville, and Ogden.

Jay had an infectious laugh and was quite a tease cat. He enjoyed socializing and participating in various Special Olympics activities. Bocce, bowling, and track and field were his favorites, and he never liked to miss an event.

Jay served as a ward greeter for many years and loved serving as a home teacher and minister. He was a church service missionary at the Ogden temple cafeteria. He made friends easily and called upon them often. He was persistent, resourceful and would always remember if you had promised him something. He was also a lover of pens and would confiscate any he found to his liking.

Jay is survived by his sister Linda Lynch and was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Wanda and Elaine.

Special thanks and much love to all the special friends and care givers in Jay’s life. There are way too many to mention them all here, but there are a few whose extraordinary service requires acknowledgement. First, Barbara (last name unknown), a case worker who left her imprint upon Jay’s heart. Next, Brent and Janette Sorenson, Jeff Anderson, and Ron Haycock all of which were angels watching over Jay for many years. Finally, his care givers at Lindquist Mortuary, Life Care in Woods Cross, Andrea, a nurse practitioner, Jamie, his favorite nurse with Bristol Hospice who embodies all the best in a special care professional, and all others with Bristol who cared for Jay for the last several

months.
