Jay Elbert Talbot passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023 in Bountiful, Utah at the age of 96. He was born June 11, 1927 at the family home in Lynndyl, Utah to Edward Clifford and Martha Ann Peters Talbot. His childhood was one of challenges as the Great Depression greatly impacted the family. He and his 6 siblings were close and found many ways to entertain themselves; some I might add would probably get you into some serious trouble today. At 16 he started working for Union Pacific railroad, a commitment that would carry him throughout his life. Jay truly was a railroad man. At 18 he joined the Navy and proudly served until 1947. On May 10, 1950 he married Joyce Roylance and together they raised four children, Neil, Judy, Doug and Mark.
He was always a hard worker doing his best to support his family. For many years he worked two jobs. He taught us “not to loaf”, not to shy away from a challenge with a “you can do it” attitude.
In his later years he could talk and tell stories for hours. His grandchildren and great grandchildren have been entertained for many years. Jay will be lovingly remembered by all of us.
Surviving are his sons Neil Jay Talbot, Bountiful; Douglas Lee Talbot (Mindy), Salt Lake City; Mark Allen Talbot (Kathy), Pleasant View; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife of 55 years Joyce Roylance Talbot (2005), daughter Judy Teerlink (2021) and all six of his siblings.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Bountiful Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 E. Lakeview Dr. Friends may visit family prior from 12:30-1:30pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary. 727 N. 400 E.
