Jay L. Webster

Jay LeRoy Webster, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Fairfield Village, Layton, UT.

A Kaysville native, Jay was born May 3, 1929 to Effie Mae (Jepperson) and LeRoy G. Webster.  He received his education on the farm and in Kaysville schools and graduated from Davis High School before beginning a long and dedicated career in government service, retiring after 37 years at Hill Air Force Base. Jay and Janne (Killian) were married June 7, 1946 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the loving parents of eight children.

Throughout his life Jay was an active member of the LDS faith and found joy in faithful service

in a variety of callings; for a number of years he served as a Temple ordinance worker. He was fun-loving with a sense of humor, love of planes and flying, outdoor activities, gardening, golf and Scouting. Jay lived his life close to the Lord. He taught his children the Gospel, the scriptures and how to work by both word and example. Daily tasks were opportunities to teach his children to be self-sufficient and charitable. Honesty, trustworthiness and service were his watchwords.

Surviving Jay are his wife, Janne; a brother, Reece (Sandy) of Bountiful, UT; his daughters, Nanette (Barton) Lunt of Conroe, TX, and Candace (Stan) Bell of Idaho Falls, ID; sons, Kelly (Edith), Kirk (Michele),  Blake (Dianne), Jepp (Toni), Todd (Susan), Drew (Tammy), all of northern Utah; 44 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Doug Webster, daughter-in-law, Yolanda (Jones) Webster, grandsons Bryan Scott Lunt and Ryan Bell, great-granddaughters Kaili Webster and Gracie Webster and a great grandson Kevin Webster.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Fruit Heights 2nd Ward Chapel, 77 So. Orchard Dr., Fruit Heights, Utah.  Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
