Jayne Evans Layton, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 4, 2022. She was born in Ogden, Utah on August 22, 1935 to Richard S. Evans and Vera Smedley Evans of Layton, Utah.
She married James Joel H. Layton on June 12, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and led a life of service. Together they served a mission in Peru and Ecuador and taught English together in China.
Jayne Graduated from Davis High School in 1953. She had a “PhD in Motherhood” and attended to her family always. She was a court appointed advocate for children in the CASA program. As a skilled seamstress, she made many prom dresses and attempted to teach this skill to her children. Jayne was an active participant as a member of The Daughters of The Utah Pioneers. Jayne was a loving, thoughtful and kind mother, wife, neighbor and friend. Her unfailing love and kindness was the greatest gift she gave to all.
Jayne is survived by her husband, Jim and five children Julie (Jeff) Johnson, Evan (Regina) Layton, Jolene (Larry) Lloyd, Connie (Chris) Brosky, and Renee (Bret) Galbraith. She has 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Joel Isaac Layton, and two grandchildren Ian Christopher Layton and Kylee Ann Galbraith.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Barnes Park Ward, 200 N. Flint St., Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main Street, Kaysville and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cascade Springs Hospice and Apple Tree Assisted Living for their tender loving care over the last several months.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice in memory of Jayne.
