J.C. Wilder OGDEN – J.C. Wilder, 82, returned home on Thursday, July 26, 2007. He was born August 7, 1924 in Tululah, Louisiana, to Robert and Laura Wilder. J.C. learned the value of hard work first on the farm, and later working for a furniture company in the South. He served his country faithfully during World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps. It was in Jackson, Mississippi on June 16, 1952, that the Lord led him back to Jackson where he married Virgia Lee Greenfield. They had attended kindergarten and first grade together in neighboring Raymond, Mississippi. J.C.’s work ethic continued as he worked for the Federal Government for 39 years, retiring from Defense Depot Ogden in 1990. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ogden for over 25 years, serving in various capacities including the American Baptist Men Association and as a long time griller of Buffalo Burgers at the Ogden Street Festival. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Virgia, of Ogden; five children, Jacquelyn Nixon, Jackson, AL; Jeffrey (Marjorie) Wilder, Riverside, CA; Dennis (Janette) Wilder, Portland, OR; Kenneth Wilder, Ogden, UT; Olwyn (Darren) Watson, Tampa, FL; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He also leaves his nephew, Tillmon Caston, Jackson, MS. J.C. is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. The family would like to thank the staff and physicians at Ogden Regional Medical Center, Wasatch Care Center, and South Ogden Center for Family Medicine for their care and compassion of J.C. during his illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ogden, 2519 Jefferson Avenue. Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Email condolences to the family at: www.lindquistmortuary.com
