J. David Born, 79, died Friday, September 30, 2016 at his home.

He was born August 10, 1937 in Sturgis, Michigan to Carl J. and Marcile Holem Born.

On March 28, 1966 David married Carrie (Susie) Martin in Arlington, Virginia. He graduated from Purdue University with a Master’s Degree in Forestry.

David had a 34 year career with the U.S. Forest Service. In 1967, he transferred from Juneau, Alaska to Ogden, Utah, retiring in 1994. He was active with the 4-H horsemanship program, enjoyed big game hunting, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Surviving are his wife, Susie, daughter, Jody (Tracy) Taylor, and grandsons, Jordan and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard.

In accordance with Dave’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or funeral. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
