Ogden, Utah – Jean Ann Dawman, 65, passed away at McKay-Dee Hospital on January 19, 2023, after battling a short illness. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Jean was born on November 7, 1957, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the oldest of six children of Almon and Grace (Disbrow) Menter. She attended Bangor High School before completing her associate degree at Davenport College in Granger, Indiana with Highest Honor in 1999.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and friends. In 1974, at the age of 16, she married Albert Dawman at Bangor Bible Church in Bangor, Michigan.

After moving to Osceola, Indiana in 1979, she started working as a teaching assistant at the Family and Children Center in Mishawaka, Indiana. She then started her career in business management, where she held various management positions at McDonald’s, Target, and Venture Department Stores. In 2019, Jean and Albert moved to Roy, Utah where she worked part-time as an information specialist at Unitarian Universalist Church of Ogden.

She will be most remembered for her love of her family and friends, gardening, camping, fishing, walking on the beach, and taking in the sunsets. She loved everyone that she met and treated them like her own family and those around her would call her, “Mama Jean.”
