Jean Lloyd Morrison
June 19, 1923 ~ November 10, 2017
Jean Lloyd Morrison, returned to his Father in Heaven surrounded by family and friends on November 10, 2017, at the age of 94.
He was born on June 19, 1923, in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Lloyd Jean Morrison and Thora Mae Larson.
His family moved to Ogden, Utah and they resided on Grant Avenue, while his dad pursued a career in surveying land for the State of Utah and United States Government. Jean attended elementary, junior high and then Ogden High School where he graduated. He attended Weber State College and graduated as an educator and taught junior high in California. He later completed a master’s degree in engineering and audiovisual.
He was in the United States Army and served in World War II where he was engaged in the Battle of the Bulge, with the 99th First Infantry where he was later awarded the Bronze Star for his heroism.
Jean worked for Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft repair supervisor. He went back to California to fulfill a contract for the University of Utah.
Jean enjoyed being a pilot, and participating in the US Civil Patrol as a volunteer, Jean liked to travel, he liked driving to explore new places. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid skier. Relaxing at home he liked to watch sports. He loved family and close friends’ visits. He liked trying new cultural cuisines. He enjoyed designing and building new inventions.
Jean was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions including: Executive Secretary, Home Teacher, and a was a member of the High Priest Quorum and he sang with the “Sons of the Utah Pioneers”.
Jean is survived by his wife, Carolyn Morrison, and his brother Dean Morrison. His children Leland J. Morrison, Thomas W. Morrison, Valarie K. Arnold, Diane L. Shiffer, Jennifer Morrison, Shon L. Morrison, and Sheryl Hamilton. Step Children Deanna F. Cook, John R. Cook, Jacolyn D. Halvorsen, Cindy L. Harris, Bryan W. Cook, Evan P. Cook and Brenda L. Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Richard Morrison, sisters June DeYoung, Lois Everton, and Rita Crosbie.
Jean’s Grandchildren: Brad Morrison, Brian Morrison, Jim Morrison, Beckie Zurburgg, Christie Hynes, Carrie Arnold, Laura Taylor, Ryan Pieper and Angie Lytle, Chad Shiffer, Bryce Pass, Bailey Pass, Brandon Pass, Stephanie Morrison, Matt Morrison, Melissa Morrison.
Jean’s Great-grandchildren: Landon, Jeffrey, Shawn, Luke & Grace Morrison, Brianne, Alyssa, Sarai Johnston, Gage & Dalton Zurbrugg, Malaya & Cielo Haynes, Cassidy & Monty Morrison, Brian Jr. & Brittany Morrison, Beau Dellner, Kitty Taylor, Addison & Emma Rose Lytle.
Great-great-grandchildren: Orin & Aurora Morrison
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Morgan Utah Stake Center, 4270 Cottonwood Canyon Road, Mountain Green, UT 84050. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
