Jean Nebeker
1935-2016
Early Sunday morning, November 20, 2016 Jean Nebeker, affectionately known as “Je Je” by her nieces and nephews, experienced a peaceful death in her bed at the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful, Utah.
She and her twin sister, Anne N. Lund, were born April 21, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to Judge J. Quill and Minnie Holmgren Nebeker.
Jean was a lady of great hope and determination, and in spite of her declining health of more than 50 years, she received two University of Utah degrees, one in Home Economics and the other in Music Education. She taught instrumental music in many schools throughout Salt Lake and Weber Counties, Atlanta, Georgia, and Honolulu, Hawaii. She also played the piano and was highlighted as guest artist playing Grieg’s Piano Concerto for an Ogden High School student body assembly. Jean and Anne played Bach’s Double Violin Concerto on KVOG, an Ogden classical radio station. Jean also played in many ensembles and solos around the Ogden area until she moved to Salt Lake City with her sister and mother to graduate together from the University of Utah. Jean almost always was a top student and graduated with honors in high school and the University.
She grew up sharing everything from bikes to clothes with her twin, and it has spilled over to this day as she shared what she could with family and others around the care center. Jean loved the few times she was able to attend endowment sessions in the Bountiful Temple, “because it brought me peace” she would say.
She is survived by her brother, Judge Frank Quill Nebeker of Arlington, Virginia, her twin sister, Anne, living in Bountiful, Utah, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may visit family from 10:45-11:15 am prior to services. Interment at Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 S. Washington Blvd. Ogden, Utah.
