Jean Theresa (Bourassa) Pittman passed away in her sleep on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Kaysville, Utah. Jean was born on February 6, 1959, in Hartford, Connecticut to Theresa A. Riccio (aka Tere Ricco) and Larry D. Bourassa, both of Maine. She was the second of five children. Jean grew up in Connecticut, moving to Tennessee when she was 17 years old.
When she was 20 years old, she married Jacob Jesse Pittman on November. 21, 1979.
In 1992, Jean gave birth to a son, Matthew James, but a few years later due to difficult circumstances, her son was adopted through an agency in Ogden. Although it was an open adoption, she lost track of him, but fondly remembered his light brown hair.
Jean was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 7, 1992.
Jean lived in Ogden for several years before moving to Apple Tree Assisted Living, Kaysville in 2011. She enjoyed the activities and social time with the residents and staff. She made many friends and loved to shop and find a good bargain.
Due to progression of Jean’s diabetes, Deana Stark, RN, came into her life in 2011. Over the course of 13 years, Deana faithfully administered daily insulin shots to Jean, and they bonded as close friends.
In 2012, she found a new friend in Karene Warby. They became fast friends. Jean enjoyed talking and spending time with Karene and her family. Over the years, they would enjoy birthdays and holiday celebrations together.
Some of Jean’s favorites include blueberry pie, peanut butter fudge, bingo, buttered rice and chicken, Christmas lights, and the Christmas holiday. Her room was decorated for each holiday.
In the spring of 2024, Jean was diagnosed with late-stage uterine cancer. She felt an urgency to find her son. Finally with the help of the Department of Child Protective Services, she was reunited with her son, Matt and his wife, Amy, on December 19, 2024. What a joyful reunion they had! Jean passed away 9 days later, on December 28, 2024.
Surviving is her son, Matthew (Amy) Gardner; grandchildren, Eden Gardner (7), Nash Gardner (3), Delilah Gardner (2), and Miles Gardner (1 mos.); siblings, Larry Bourassa, Theresa Bourassa and Loriann Bourassa; and close friends, Deana Stark, Dave and Karene Warby, Derek Warby (21), Alayna Warby (19), Kylie Warby (16), Ciara Warby (14).
