Jean M. Porter
LAYTON - Jean Marie Hansen Porter, a resident of Layton, Utah, passed away on Friday October 29, 2010, after enduring over a year of treatments for a Glioblastoma brain tumor.
Jean was born in Ogden Utah on January 4, 1954 to Donna and Harold Hansen. She was a graduate of both Ogden High and Weber State. She served for three years in the US Army Reserves and worked for several years as a nurse at St. Benedict''s Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
Jean loved, among other things, bowling, coaching soccer, substitute teaching, and the LDS Church. As a primary teacher, Jean dedicated countless hours because she wanted to help all children learn and understand the teaching of our Heavenly Father. She also served for many years as her bowling league''s secretary and spent a tremendous amount of time volunteering in the PTA.
Jean is survived by her husband of 31 years, Kent; sons Richard, Robert, and Randy; daughters Lisa and Faye; brothers Lowell, Russell, Paul, Jeff, and Alan; sisters Susan Coleman, Barbara Felt and Penny Dewitt.
She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father; brothers Douglas and Wayne; sisters Carolyn Simpson and Linda Bell and grandson Jaden Porter.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday November 6th at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vae View PTA Reading Program 1750 W. 1600 N. Layton, Utah 84041.
