“Together Again”

It is with joyful, yet tender hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet, beloved, mother, grandmother, and friend, Jeane Ritter Knight.  Mom passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2016, surrounded by her family.

Jeane Ritter Knight was born on February 1, 1921, to Francis Frederick and Mary Edith Child Ritter in Riverdale, Utah.

Her father farmed the area of Riverdale, now Riverside Golf Course.  She treasured her childhood memories on the farm, where she spent hours by herself in the trees or the garden, lost in imagination.

Mom enjoyed music and sang and tap danced from the time she was 5.  She performed with the Shamrock Orchestra and won the Amateur Hour Talent Show at the Orpheum Theater.

She attended Weber High School, where she was a cheerleader and was involved in the music program.  She also sang for many events in Weber County.

She met Wally Knight while he was officiating a basketball game and it was love at first sight. They were married in 1940, and were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple, and celebrated their 65th anniversary before he passed away in 2006. Mom loved spending time with her family each year in Island Park canoeing and singing around the campfire.

Mom was the librarian at Riverdale Elementary School and organized the school chorus, where she and the children enjoyed singing and performing together.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mom had a strong testimony of the Gospel and loved her Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ.

Jeane is survived by her children and spouses, Dr. Kelton Knight, Ellensburg, WA; Marilee (Dennis) Bubash, Springville, UT; and Trudy (Tom) Hill, Marriott-Slaterville, UT; nine grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Karen Knight; grandson, Jonathan Kelton Knight, granddaughter, Lisa Bubash; great-grandson, Dreydon Archuleta; and sisters, Francis, Trude, and Bernice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Riverdale 1st Ward, 1056 West 4400 South.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank Envision Hospice and their staff, especially Theresa, Melissa, Susan, and Dr. Wilson.  We will forever be grateful for granddaughters Hailey Toyn, Jenny Powell, Angie Beatty, and Julie Archuleta for years of tender loving care for their special granny, and Sara Beanfield for playing her violin many nights to help mom fall asleep.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Primary Children’s Hospital or the LDS Missionary Fund.
