Jeanenne Jones Murdock left this world on March 10, 2025, just shy of her 96th birthday. Born in the beautiful landscapes of Idaho Falls, Idaho, on April 1, 1929, the daughter of Maiben and Leda Sayer Jones. Jeanenne was an embodiment of joy and tenacity, traits that guided her throughout her life.
In the 6th grade, her family moved to Ammon Idaho, where Jeanenne graduated High School in 1946 and from Idaho State University in 1950 with a Bachelor’s in Business Education. Jeanenne married Joe Hine in November of 1950, they later divorced.
Jeanenne stepped into various administrative roles between 1950 and 1966. She embraced the challenges of each role. It was during this time that she married Rex A. Murdock in November of 1964.
She found her true calling teaching at Skyline High School in 1966. Over the years, she transformed the lives of countless students with her nurturing spirit and commitment to their growth. Teaching was not merely a profession for Jeanenne; it was a joyous pursuit, that challenged her every day until her retirement.
Even in her later years after moving to Hooper, Jeanenne's devotion to education never wavered. She lent her talents to the Hooper Elementary School’s reading program, a testament to her unwavering belief in the power of reading and the development of children.
Beyond her professional achievements, her love for travel opened her heart to the world, infusing her spirit with a sense of wonder. Even after the passing of her beloved spouse, her love for travel remained.
Jeanenne loved the outdoors. The winter months included snowmobiling over wintry trails or teeing off under the sun on summer days. In her yard, she found solace digging her hands into the earth. During her quiet times, she spent hours reading.
Jeanenne welcomed every moment with laughter and that delightfully sarcastic sense of humor that endeared her to friends and family alike. Jeanenne's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her legacy of kindness, laughter, and education will undoubtedly continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
Jeanenne is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Tony) Maestas, grandchildren: Brody Maestas and Maleena Maestas, great-grandchildren: Zach and Jenna Woolstenhulme and Antonio Maestas.
