Jeanette Smith Oberhansly Searle
September 15, 1922 ~ July 4, 2017
Jeanette Smith Oberhansly Searle, at the age of 94, returned to be with her Heavenly Father and to be re-united with her loved ones, who preceded her in death. She was born in Morgan, Utah on September 15, 1922 to Thomas Adrian and Sarah Oles Owen Smith. Jeanette grew up in Morgan and later attended “Utah State College”. She was married to Verne Jr. Oberhansly (deceased), and they had five children together. They later divorced. She attended Stevens-Henager College and worked in various secretarial positions, including HAFB, and Defense Depot of Ogden. She loved to travel and toured Europe with her son, John, when he came home from his mission.
On February 12, 1971, she married Orville Grant Searle, now making a blended family of 10. After they retired, they enjoyed traveling and golfing together. They spent their winters in Apache Junction, AZ.
She was a faithful member of the LDS faith and served in many church callings. Although she was shy, those who got to know her, enjoyed her fun sense of humor, her honesty, and her devotion to her family in the many sacrifice's she made in rearing them. In her later years, she was cared for by her daughters, living in Mesquite NV and St. George, UT. She attended church at the "Silverstone Ward” in St. George, Utah. She often commented on how she appreciated those who made her feel so welcome. She also enjoyed the visits from the ladies of the Mesquite 6th Ward. Her family will miss her dearly, and are so grateful for the extra time they had to spend with her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Grant Searle; her two brothers, Dale Smith (Emma) and Darrel Smith; a son, John Paris Oberhansly; a granddaughter, Cami Lee Folker; and two grandsons, Danny Ravenberg, and Adam Ravenberg.
Surviving are her daughters, Terri Olsen (Sheldon), Kristine Lucas (Roger), Julie Folker (Glen), and Janet Cherry (Bryan). Also surviving are Grant's daughters and son, Norma Miller, Dale Searle (Susan), Jerri Ravenberg (Earl) Jill Jensen, and Kaye Bertagnolli. She also leaves behind a great posterity of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Highland Manor and Mesa View Hospice, in Mesquite, NV for their loving care during her short stay with them.
