Jeanette (Jeanne) Stoddard Roth

1939-2021

Jeanne Stoddard Roth, our beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, and grandmother passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by family on October 9, 2021. We are so grateful she is finally free. The joy she brought each of us is matched only by the loss we feel, made bearable that we have loved so big.

Born to Elbert and Shirley Stoddard Parker in Rexburg, Idaho, she always loved Idaho best. Her presumed lifeless arrival on October 28, 1939, was followed by a second surprise, Jeri, her identical twin, and partner in adventure.

Her happiest childhood memories are summers spent with her grandparents, Roy and Phyllis Stoddard, at the family sawmill in Island Park, Idaho.  She loved the pines, the wildflowers, the streams, the rivers, the huckleberries, the cousins, the minnows, and the quest for “Walter,” every fisherman’s dream.

In the summer of 1970, she embarked on the formidable task of recreating a portion of this for us, a huge part of the legacy she would leave us. With characteristic determination and courage, three young children, and a secondhand trailer in tow, she began building “the cabin” in that same sacred space – a refuge that draws us all together.

She studied at Brigham Young University, worked as a legal secretary, and later graduated from Weber State College as a Registered Nurse. Between her lightning speed shorthand and medical abbreviations, it was difficult to decipher her notes. A lover of babies, she fittingly found her niche in Labor and Delivery where she happily worked for decades. Adored by her patients and coworkers, many became lifelong friends.

As a lover of Jesus and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since age 16, she served faithfully and with a spunk exclusive to her. If you were lucky enough to sit in one of her lessons…you know. Her faith and love for the Savior runs deep as does her perfect brightness of hope.

Life became complete when she married Danny Allen Roth, her cherished husband and hero to us all. No words can describe the depth of their love and the extent of Danny’s selfless devotion.

Her greatest life’s work is her “mice” (children and grandchildren). The world may never know a more beloved grandma.

She is survived by her husband, Danny, and her children, Robert Kirk Belnap (Linnea), Lori Belnap Pehrson (David), Kristin Jean Belnap Ballou (Richard), Katherine Heather Donnelley Peel (Darren) and Amy Elizabeth Donnelley Cheney (Joshua), her stepson, Danny Kip Roth (Bethann), and sisters, Jeri Parker, and Kathleen “Kaye” Tomazin (Frank) and all of her beloved “mice” (25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren give or take a few).

Family preceding her to the other side include her parents, grandparents, brother, Robert “Bobby” Sinclair Parker, daughter, Lisa Belnap, and son, Kerry Belnap, stepson, Troy Ray Roth (Janiel), and grandson, Richard Tyler Ballou, Jr.

Special thanks to physician and friend, Grace O’Brien and Mom’s angel hospice nurse, Jenny Urry.
