Jeanne Ashton Ferrin

FARMINGTON a€" Jeanne Ashton Ferrin, 88, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, August 31, 2013. She was born April 27, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah the daughter of George William Ashton and Alice Rowena Timpson Ashton.

Jeanne graduated from the U of U with a bachelor''s degree in Home Economics and minors in art and science. She married J. Jay Ferrin on March 20, 1946 in Salt Lake Temple. They had seven children. Jeanne taught English, Art and Homemaking and served as a PTA president at Davis High. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as Relief Society President, stake and ward Primary President and many other callings. Jeanne served a mission with her husband to Nauvoo, Illinois. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers for over 44 years. Jeanne loved to oil paint, quilt, design and build homes.

Surviving are her children; Lynn (Jacquee), Mark (Cheryl), Brent (Susan), Denise (Scott) Prince, Teresa (Shawn) Meldrum, Wayne (Margaret), Keith (Julie), 34 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, siblings; Rowena (Lael) Carter, Lorraine (Homer) Wilkinson, Linda (Dave) Roberts. Preceded in death by her husband Jay, parents, brothers; Melvin and Homer Ashton, and grandson Bryce.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Compton Bench Ward, 850 N. 300 W., Farmington. Friends may visit family Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
