Jeanne McDonald

A Jeanne Chase McDonald

Jeanne was born in Nephi, Utah to Alma (Bud) and Ruby Haycock Chase on December 18, 1938.  At a young age her father Bud died, Jeanne and her young mother Ruby moved to Ogden.  Ruby remarried William (Bill) Purcell and a few years later Jeanne became a big sister to John.

Jeanne attended school in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1957.  She graduated from the University of Utah (go UTE’s) with a BA in 1964 and her Master in 1971.  Jeanne was a true UTE supporter, loved to watch every game and U of U activity.

Jeanne married her soul mate and best friend Dean (Mac) McDonald on February 18, 1966 in Reno, NV.  They enjoyed traveling the world, building and spending every weekend at their dream cabin at Beaver Spring, tearing up the trails on the ATV or snowmobile, and in the winter snowshoeing in, always excited to seeing nature at its best and later spending the winter in Oceanside, CA walking the beach each day.  After Mac passed away in 2000 Jeanne continued to enjoy her cabin and condo in Oceanside looking forward to seeing all of her friends who we are sure looked forward to her delightful “cooking” (we worried she would starve to death after Mac died) and her crazy lady driving.

Jeanne worked at HAFB where she had a wonderful career that she was very proud of. She retired as a Personnel Specialist in 1994. She was a long time member of the Bountiful Ladies of Elks.

Jeanne loved life!  She loved every animal and donated to every cause.  She has had numerous cats over the years, Pita, PJ, Little Tina are just a few, she is survived by Anthony (Tony) and Bella.

Jeanne is survived by her brother John and his wife Cindy Purcell, Eden, Utah, their sons and families;  Nephews, John Scott Purcell, Ryan and Leslie Shurtliff, children Myranda, Tayleigh, Addyson and Dylan, Syracuse, Utah and  William (Bill) and Kim Purcell, children Will, Audrey and Scarlett, Eden, Utah.  Mac’s stepson Michael Cameron and his wife Barbara, their children James and Katrina, Justin, Joshua and Sarah, Melissa Cameron and five great-grandchildren, the McDonald Clan- Nephews, Wayne (Glenna), Denis (Peggy), and Niece, Kathy Buyers, Mac’s brothers Glen, Deloy and sister Mary Lou.

Also survived by dear friends, Ann, Madeline, Ruby, Shirley, Sue, Joan, Lola, Claudia and many neighbors who watched over her. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mac, Mac’s brother Tom and sister Pat Ingersal.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 9, 2015 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may visit family from 12:30-1:30pm prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
