Jeffery Brian Wight

May 5, 1963 ~ January 31, 2021

Our dear dad, Jeffery Brian Wight, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 from complications of a sudden heart attack. He was the best dad we could have ever asked for.

He was born in Hilldale, Utah on May 5, 1963 to Bruce and Gloria Wight. He was the fourth child of fourteen. He was very close to his Grandma Archibald.

Jeff spent one year in the Army. He was the hardest worker we ever knew. He always felt that the most important job he ever had was taking care of his family.

Jeff met Nancy Russell January 1986 and they were married two months later on March 8, 1986. They were sealed in Salt Lake Temple on September 8, 1992. They had five children together. In 2017, they divorced but remained good friends. They had a mutual love for their kids, grandkids, and our family camping trip.

He earned a degree from Salt Lake Community College in computer science and was a computer software engineer. He loved tinkering with his computer and electronics. He loved fishing with his kids and grandkids. Those grandkids were his life. He was very smart and could solve almost any problem we needed help with. He was famous for his dad jokes and sarcasm. He was always there when we needed him for advice or life questions. He was always very proud of his children and their accomplishments and he made sure that we knew that.

Jeff had a true passion for Mazda Miata and in his life and owned three including a brand new 2016 MX5. The last few years he had loved taking his car trips and vacationing with his girlfriend, Andie. She described him as having a larger-than-life personality.

Our dad was taken far too young and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his parents, Bruce and Gloria Wight, and his kids, Amanda Garrett (Cody), Brian Wight (Kaylee), Christopher Wight (Britney), Dominic Wight (Brea), and Elysha Wight and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by 12 siblings, his girlfriend Andie Gillett and the mother of his children, Nancy Wight. He preceded in death by his grandparents and one sister.

He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew him. The family of Jeff would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU of McKay Dee Hospital and the care that they provided.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February, 10, 2021 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 10 to 10:45 am at the mortuary.
