Jeffrey Allen Bates passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Layton, Utah. He was born to Carl Edwin and Penny Allen Bates on July 2, 1986, in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Northridge High School in 2004.
Jeff had many passions that he pursued throughout his life. He attended Culinary Arts classes and loved cooking for family and friends. Jeff also graduated in Fire Science from the Davis Technical College. He was an avid sports fan and passionately supported the Jazz, Weber State, Grizzlies, and Saints. When not cheering on his favorite teams, Jeff loved fishing with friends and family as well as competing at darts.
Jeff always brought a larger-than-life presence and endless energy. He was strong willed and stubborn, but also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was often found wrestling with his nieces and nephews or bringing laughter to any activity.
He is survived by his parents - Carl and Penny Bates, three sisters - Tami (Brian) Cruz, Holly Bates, and Heather (Robby) Haltinner, his brother - Mark (Jody) Bates, nine nieces and nephews, one grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by three grandparents, two aunts and one uncle.
There will be a graveside service in his honor on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11 am at the Clinton City Cemetery, 813 N 750 W in Clinton, Utah. A viewing will be held prior from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S in Roy, Utah.
