Jeffrey W. Johnson
Jeffrey W. Johnson, 70, passed away from cancer, on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, in Layton, Utah.
He was born on November 30, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Forest S. and Alice Whitesides Johnson. Jeff was raised in Layton, Utah and attended Davis High School, graduating in 1960. While at Davis, he lettered in Football, Basketball, and Track. He received a football scholarship from Weber State and attended both Weber State and University of Utah. He was a member of the Utah National Guard.
In November 1964, Jeff married Linda K. Bowman. They had two sons, Jason Johnson and Troy Johnson. They were later divorced. In 1981, he married Vinita J. Turnbull. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2012.
Jeff was employed at the Boeing Company for over 34 years as a Quality Assurance Inspector. This job provided him the opportunity to travel to numerous places in the U.S. as well as foreign countries. He retired from Boeing in 1998, and then he and his wife Vinita relocated to Phoenix, Arizona.
Jeff had numerous hobbies, which included trapshooting, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling in his 5th wheel. He was an avid reader, loved cribbage and challenging puzzles. He won numerous trophies and awards for his excellent trapshooting ability.
Jeff is survived by his two sons, Jason W. (Kimberlee) Johnson, Roy, UT, Troy R. Johnson, Kaysville, UT, his two stepchildren, Michael (Junco) Turnbull, Sandpoint, ID, Theresa (David) Espinoza, Maryland, one sister, Catherine Sessions, Layton, UT, six grandchildren, Stephen Johnson, Nathan (Mary) Johnson, Taelor Johnson, Chaz (Jackie) Ermini, Taeler Hagee and Christopher Turnbull, eight great-grandchildren, Allison, Taylor, Keenan, Caitlyn, Lily Ann, Layne, Xander, and Harly.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vinita J. Turnbull, stepson Steve Turnbull, and parents Forest and Alice Whitesides Johnson.
Memorial services will be held Monday, October 15, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Monday one hour prior to services at the mortuary.
