Jeneane E. Hughes
SOUTH OGDEN – Jeneane E. Hughes of South Ogden, died Monday, May 4, 2009 from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Born in Portland, Oregon on November 30, 1970 to Alan L. and Catherine Hughes. Jeneane was very loving and kind, made friends easily and always enjoyed being outdoors. In 1976 she moved to Forrest Grove and grew up with her sister Anna, her close friends, and cousins playing outside, walking along the train tracks, and climbing trees. At age 11 she moved to New Hampshire with her sister and father attending many schools. At age 15, she moved to Ogden, Utah with her mother and new step-father, Richard Childers, and was blessed with a brother, Kim and two sisters, Becky and Heather. She graduated from Washington High School in Ogden, Utah in 1989.
While working in 1990, Jeneane met the love of her life, Troy Cottle. Over the years they have grown to be best friends. Together they had two wonderful sons, Jack Robert and Eric Richard. Troy’s parents, Colleen and Dale Kap have been especially close and involved as wonderful supportive family to Jeneane and the boys.
Jeneane was a very active and involved mom taking her boys on road trips to Oregon every year, and enjoyed camping, and school and church activities.
Jeneane worked for 12 years at McDonalds and was a manager loved by her co-workers and customers.
Jeneane was baptized in 2003 as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She went through the temple in 2006 covenanting to be sealed someday to her children for time and all eternity. She had served in the Young Women’s, Primary and Relief Society Organizations and remained active and faithful and was an example of enduring to the end.
Jeneane was an inspiration to everyone who met her with her optimistic personality and Christ like love, always thinking of others needs ahead of her own even she was so sick. Jeneane’s mother, Cathy Childers, moved here from Oregon to help care for her daughter and grandchildren. Jeneane will be greatly missed and remembered for her genuine kindness.
She is survived by her former husband, Troy Cottle, two sons, Jack and Eric Cottle, her mother and father-in-law, Colleen and Dale Kap, her mother Catherine Childers, three sisters, one brother, 23 nephews and nieces, grandfather Robert McGrotty, grandmother, Irene Hughes, seven aunts, two uncles, numerous cousins and her extended Utah family.
