Jenell Layton

On June 5, 2019 our wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt passed away surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born April 20, 1936 to Ronald and Thelma Page Steed in Clearfield, Utah on the Steed Farm.  She was raiised with her brother Stanley Steed.  She went to school in Clearfield and attended Davis High School.

Jenell met Roy Ole Layton while attending Davis High School.  They married on June 26, 1953 and later solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple.  They were married for 66 years.  Together they raised three children, Deborah (Colin) Normington, Kaysville, UT: Katheleen (Jeff) Ketcham, Ogden, UT; Craig (Colette) Layton, Kaysville, UT; currently their posterity includes eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving daughter Kathy Ketcham, parents Ronald and Thelma Steed and brother Stanley Steed.

She loved and supported us all in everything we did.

Jenell’s life was embodied by charity, especially her love for dogs.  Her love and concern for abandoned dogs was evident by her generous charity and the many abandoned dogs who found their way into her home.

We would like to thank all of the staff at Fairfield Village and Inspiration Hospice Care (Lindsay) for their extraordinary dedication and care.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood Ward Chapel, 1059 E. Crestwood Road, Kaysville.  Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
