Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Jennifer Kay Cooke, 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, February 27, 2025. She was born in Hodge, Louisiana, on October 15, 1946, to Wallace H. and Evelyn F. Carpenter Reid.
Kay married John J. Cooke on March 23, 1970, in Iowa. Kay and John lived in Muscatine, Iowa. In 1993, they moved their family to Coal Valley, Illinois, and from 1993 to 2013 they moved to Louisiana. In 2018, Kay and John moved again settling in West Haven, Utah. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together before Kay’s passing.
She was a proud member of the Catholic Church. Kay demonstrated the importance of taking care of the environment in her many activities. She had a passion for crafting, decorating, baking and cooking, and enjoyed sharing her talents with others.
Kay is survived by her husband, John J. Cooke of West Haven; sons, John J. (Tamara) Cooke III of West Haven, Hoy (Gwen) Cooke of Jennings, LA, and Douglas (Christina) Cooke of Anchorage, AK; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and brother, Austin H. (Linda) Reid of Columbus, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jodi Renee Cooley.
A vigil service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, starting at 6 p.m. with viewing to follow until 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven.
