Jerrol Addison Hicken
KAYSVILLE - Jerrol Addison Hicken, 85, the beloved head of our family, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Born to J. Errol and Ivie Deon Clyde Hicken on May 13, 1928, the most important event in his life was meeting Elleen Dearden and marrying her on August 13, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple.
His best work was as a purchasing manager for the Lord''s company, as he called it, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jerrol loved to write, completing several novels and a children''s book. He loved cherry chocolates, horses-- especially his pony, Button--and cattle ranching. As a child, he called himself, Jerrol Addison Tim Clyde Hicken, The Cowboy. He also enjoyed skiing and riding motorcycles with Elleen. An avid reader, he finished his BA at BYU at the age of 50. His activity in the Church was his life.
Jerrol is survived by his dear wife, Elleen, and children, Karin Marie Smith, Kristine Hansen, Jerroleen Sorensen, John Errol, Robert William, David Addison, Maryann Poole and Bethann Roth. He has 40 living grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Noreen Kay and Ruth Louise Rasmussen. His brother, Quentin Errol, passed away previously.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville 11th Ward Chapel, 500 South Main, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.
Interment, Heber City Cemetery at 3 p.m.
Donations may be made in Jerrol''s honor to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
