Jerrold (Jerry) Allen Burns

Jerrold (Jerry) Allen Burns, 81, passed away September 15, 2021, in Clearfield, Utah.  He went quickly and peacefully at home.  He was born on March 1, 1940, in Oelwein, Iowa to Howard and Lucille (Wittenberg) Burns.

He married the love his life Carol on September 6, 1973, and they were later sealed in the Ogden Temple.

He is survived by his wife Carol of 48 years, son Kevin Brown (Billie), grandson Tyler Brown, brothers Lee Burns (Sue) of Northampton, Massachusetts and Roger Burns (Beverly) of Swisher, Iowa.  Jerry was preceded in Death by his parents.

After graduating Fayette, Iowa, High School in 1958, Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force.  His Air Force service took him to Scuthorpe, England, California, Okinawa, Japan, New Mexico and other bases around the United States.  Jerry served two tours in Vietnam as a Munitions Specialist.

After 20 years of service, Jerry retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1978, making Clearfield his and Carol’s home.  Jerry received many awards and accolades during his service for marksmanship.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Jerry worked until 2016 the DDO and as a meat cutter at the Hill Commissary.

Being a quiet man, if you asked Jerry about guns, reloading or a good meal, his grin would appear, and he would talk for hours.  His brother Roger especially remembers a trip to visit Jerry where they visited the Air Force Museum at Hill Air Force Base and Jerry knew all there was to know about the aircraft at the museum.

A celebration of Jerry’s Life will be announced for friends and family at a later date.
